Janie Frank

Ever since I was a very young child, I knew I wanted to write. Before I learned how to write, I sat on the floor of the living room and filled up notebooks with scribbles, pretending that I was making stories. I used to tell my dad, “People write stories for me to read. I want to write them for others to read.” As I got older, reading and writing became an escape for me. Lord Byron once said, “If I don’t write to empty my mind, I go mad.” The older I get, the more I agree with the poet. To this day, whether I’m going through a tough trial, learning something new, or simply bored, I write. If I did not write, I would not be myself.

One of my favorite quotes was made by Confucius. “Wherever you go,” he said, “go with all your heart.” I try to do this in every aspect of my life. This includes all of my hobbies – not only reading and writing but also volleyball, flute, traveling, and American Sign Language.

I aspire to be a journalist after I graduate. I hope that using this site will help to improve my writing skills and better prepare me for the future.
